 Finnish Minister for International Development, Ms. Heidi Hautala, visited Kenya from 24 to 28 March 2012. During her trip, she had a chance to meet briefly with the MIDA FINNSOM Health project participants gathered in Nairobi for a three day workshop on Migration and Development.

 Between 24th February 2012 and 1st March 2012 the representatives of IOM Helsinki and the MIDA FINNSOM Health Steering Committee carried out the project’s inception/assessment visit to Garowe, Puntland and Hargeisa, Somaliland. Through this visit, the project was seeking to open the doors for bilateral cooperation frameworks to be established between health institutions in Finland and their peer counterparts in Somalia.

 On 23 April 2012 the Finnish Medical Association, in cooperation with IOM Helsinki, organized the second MIDA FINNSOM Health Training of Trainers Workshop. The theme of the workshop was “Managing stress and staying safe in the field”.
