In this 10-month pilot project, the IOM offices in Copenhagen and Helsinki will contribute to the development and offer of general Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration services (AVRR) to asylum seekers in Denmark. IOM will provide Assisted Voluntary Return arrangements and pay reintegration cash grants to approximately 250 eligible asylum seekers returning voluntarily from Denmark.
The AVRRTiPP-SWE project was launched in August 2012 as a joint pilot project of the County Administrative Board of Stockholm (CABS), Sweden, and IOM Helsinki. The project contributes to the development of a consistent and nation-wide offer of voluntary return and reintegration for victims of trafficking and foreign persons in prostitution in Sweden.
In this three-year project funded by the EU Return Fund and the Finnish Immigration Service, IOM Helsinki supports the Finnish government in setting up a permanent Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) framework in Finland. IOM facilitates all stages of the return process, from information provision and counseling to travel arrangements and provision of reintegration support for eligible returnees.

In cooperation with the Swedish Migration Board (SMB), IOM Helsinki facilitates payment of reestablishment support (“återetableringsstöd”) to voluntary returnees from Sweden that have been granted the support by decision of the SMB. The payments are coordinated by IOM Helsinki and carried out in cooperation with IOM offices in the 20 regions or countries of return presently covered by the agreement.
