| Benefits of participation |
Selected professionals will have an opportunity to contribute to the rehabilitation and development of the health sectors in Somaliland and Puntland, while receiving the support and logistical assistance of IOM. In addition, they will have the opportunity to network with a wide range of health care professionals and local authorities, in addition to representatives of international organizations and NGOs; while gaining valuable field experience in a complex environment. Support and Compensation All project participants will be provided with all travel arrangements, medical insurance, and in-country transportation. Furthermore, participants will receive a living allowance - on behalf of their host institutions - based on their prove qualifications. This allowance is intended to cover basic living expenses and accommodation. The following allowances scale will be strictly followed by the project: Health Professionals
Support Professionals
All selected project applicants will be categorized by a panel comprised of representatives from project Steering Committee. * If holding a higher university degree, specialized nurses will be eligible to receive a higher compensation allowance (i.e. as holders of a Master’s Degree and/or a PhD) IMPORTANT: The Participant is solely responsible for payment of any applicable taxes on the allowances received under his/her participation in the project. Health Insurance IOM will on behalf of the project participant purchase a medical, medical evacuation and death-and-disability insurance valid in Somaliland and Puntland during the period of assignment. As such, the project participant will need to directly follow the instructions of the insurance coverage to make use of the services. Note: The Participant shall provide a medical certificate confirming fitness-to-work to IOM prior to the commencement of his/her assignment. The contractual arrangement for the health insurance is directly between the project participant and the Insurance Company. (later we can link the insurance waiver). Professional Training In cooperation with the Finnish Medical Association and the Finnish Nurses Association, IOM will organize six training sessions throughout the project. These training sessions will focus on subjects relevant to all MIDA FINNSOM Health assignments. Participants in these training sessions will receive a certificate of attendance. Accommodation Although accommodation is not covered by the project, IOM will, if needed, advice the participants in finding adequate and affordable accommodation at the location of their assignment. Local Transportation IOM will provide each selected participant a monthly allowance of USD 250 to arrange his/her transportation in their location of assignment. This allowance is meant to cover all transportation related to the person’s participation in the project, i.e. daily transportation to and from work, participation in MIDA FINNSOM Health events, etc. Certification All project participants, after completion of their assignments, will receive a certificate of participation from the MIDA FINNSOM Health project, and from their host institution. |
