IOM launches AVRR programme in Denmark

avrdk pic mnp0172In cooperation with the Danish Immigration Service, the IOM offices in Copenhagen and Helsinki have lanched a 10-month project to support the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) of asylum seekers returning voluntarily from Denmark. The project is the first general AVRR project in Denmark, and it will provide support to an estimated 250 returnees from 1 January to 31 October 2013. Counter-trafficking campaign 2012 launched

ct-campaign_news_fairytale_152x98IOM Helsinki launched the second joint counter-trafficking campaign in cooperation with the Finnish Ombudsperson for Minorities on 3 December 2012. Themed ‘Human Trafficking is not a Fairy Tale’, the campaign aims to raise awareness within the general public about human trafficking in Finland.


There are hundreds of victims of human trafficking, even in Finland. However, identification of victims is difficult as human trafficking is a fairly unknown phenomenon in Finland. Through awareness-raising activities, this campaign aims to increase prospects of victim identification as well as enhance realization of victims’ rights.

IOM organizes information campaign on Assisted Voluntary Return in Helsinki – week 44
poster_5_152x105From 29 October to 4 November 2012, IOM Helsinki publishes the information campaign “Different destinations, different points of departure” in the center of Helsinki. Six different campaign posters at bus stops across the city will draw attention to the varying life situations of persons returning voluntarily from Finland to their countries of origin with IOM.

Four of the posters display quotes in Finnish from actual returnees assisted by IOM, while two posters show the campaign title, “Monta lähtökohtaa, monta kotimaata”

Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration for Victims of Trafficking and Foreign Persons in Prostitution (AVRRTiPP-SWE)
mmd0022_webThe AVRRTiPP-SWE project was launched in August 2012 as a joint pilot project of the County Administrative Board of Stockholm (CABS), Sweden, and IOM Helsinki. The project contributes to the development of a consistent and nation-wide offer of voluntary return and reintegration for victims of trafficking and foreign persons in prostitution in Sweden.
