Press Release: IOM Helsinki arranges 550 voluntary returns from Finland
©_IOM_2006_MPH0093_Photo_Angelo_JacintoFrom 1 January 2010 to 27 January 2012, IOM Helsinki has arranged the voluntary return of more than 550 persons from Finland to their home countries. The returnees, mainly asylum seekers, have returned through the project "Developing Assisted Voluntary Return in Finland (DAVRiF)," organised by IOM Helsinki and the Finnish Immigration Service. The project was launched at the beginning of 2010 to help people from non-EU coutries to return to their home countries voluntarily.

Director General of IOM visited Helsinki
dg_mfa_152x101 Director General of the global IOM, Mr. William Lacy Swing visited Helsinki on 13 October 2011. His visit to Helsinki included a keynote speech in an International Seminar "Migration and Communication: Re-balancing information flows and dialogue", bilateral meetings with Finnish Ministries' representatives, a visit to the IOM Helsinki office, as well as IOM 60th Anniversary celebrations.

IOM celebrated the European Day against Trafficking
ihmiskaupan_vastainen_kampanjaEvery year since 2007, civil society, international organizations and governments all over Europe have celebrated the European Day against Trafficking on 18 October. This year IOM Helsinki and the Ombudsman for Minorities in Finland raised awareness on the issue of trafficking through the information campaign "Work that nobody wants to do".
